This is our second session on "The Blue Goose". This time we are installing a new gasket set from Clarks. This enigne has been sitting on it's bellhousing for close to 20 years. It is a 110hp enigne from an AC car and has the 12 plate oil cooler. Someone most likely had a head fail because the head numbers came back 95hp heads. Since the enigne has all of it's old original gaskets, we are going to replace them all. No easy task! Picture #7 shows club president Larry Fry (right) and member Jim Becius (left) useing a torch to burn the old gaskets off. Boy did that smell! We got a lot done. We resealed the entire rear (crank pully) side of the enigne. We also reworked and sealed the oil pan. Next time we will tackel the bell housing, replace the valve stems, tune them cold and seal up the valve covers. Hopefully we will be able to install the newly refreshed enigne into our project car. The next SATS will be announced shortly. |
